The security forces in Kurdistan Region have gained good experience and skills in fighting terrorism and extreme violence during the last 26 years, but we need to pay more attention to the provision of technology and technical skills of these forces so that they be capable of not only to confront terrorism militarily but also how to prevent the spread of terrorism and violent ideology.
The German delegation visited the Kurdistan Region to see the current situation so that they tailor their assistance accordingly. They reiterated the German’s support and appreciated the role of the KRG and the JCC.
The meeting discussed the situation of the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) who have been displaced to the Kurdistan Region following the occupation of Mosul city and the military operation to liberate the city. The meeting also discussed the challenges and difficulties before the return of the IDPs to their areas and working on removing such challenges to allow voluntary and dignified return of the IDPs.
The KRG’s Ministry of Interior and the Iraqi’s Ministry of Migration and Displacement signed an MOU today to institutionalize cooperation and coordination between Erbil and Baghdad in response to the current humanitarian crises in KRI and Iraq. More details..
