The Kurdistan Region currently hosts more than 1 million of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) and refugees; 787,705 IDPs and 264,720 Syrian refugees.
A UN delegation headed by Mrs. Cecilia Jimenez-Damary, the Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights for the Internally Displaced Persons and accompanied delegation visited the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC).
Both sides exchanged views on the current situation and the ways forward to help the IDPs and finding synergies to support the IDPs, refugees and the return process and stabilization.
The Joint Crisis Coordination Center organized a one day workshop with a joint ministerial technical team which consists of senior representatives of relevant ministries and departments to review and discuss the draft of an actionable plan for implementing the Strategic Plan 2017- 2020 for establishing a Crisis and Disaster Management System in Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
