The Kurdistan Region currently hosts more than 1 million of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) and refugees; 787,705 IDPs and 264,720 Syrian refugees.
A UN delegation headed by Mrs. Cecilia Jimenez-Damary, the Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights for the Internally Displaced Persons and accompanied delegation visited the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC).
Both sides exchanged views on the current situation and the ways forward to help the IDPs and finding synergies to support the IDPs, refugees and the return process and stabilization.
Representatives of the organizations gave a brief overview of their activities in Kurdistan and exchanged views on how to best address the needs of the host and the guest communities as well as the newly liberated areas. More details..
